More than 50 years in motion

What began in 1975 as Kempische Wagenbouw in Bree grew into a specialist in construction transport. The technology evolved, the company grew, and the ambition remained: to make transport smarter, stronger, and more efficient.

1975: The beginning in Bree

On November 20, 1975, Leo Straetemans registered Kempische Wagenbouw. In Bree, Belgium, he laid the foundation for a company that develops trailers based on daily transport practice. Reliability, smart technology, and customization have been the starting points from the very beginning.

1981 to 1984: Room to grow

The Paesen family took over KWB on December 31, 1981. In 1984, the move to the Peerderbaan industrial estate followed. This new location offered room for further growth and development, with an ever-stronger focus on construction transport.

1993: A technical course

With the arrival of Jac Kennis on November 1, 1993, the focus gradually shifted to trailers for mobile cranes. KWB developed its own rod steering system, among other things, and further specialized in trailers with one or more steered axles.

2015: A new generation

In May 2015, KWB delivered the first steering-knuckle-steered trailer. Later that year, the Paesen family transferred the shares to a new generation of entrepreneurs. A new phase began, in which technical innovation and cooperation became even more central.

Today: Building further together

Under the leadership of Andy Kennis, KWB continues to build complete transport solutions. Proven concepts form the basis, while customization makes the difference. By working with partner companies, we combine trailer construction with service, maintenance, and long-term support.

In this way, we combine decades of experience with today’s demands. Always in collaboration with the people who work with our trailers every day.

Smart technology. Custom solutions for your work.

Every load, site, and transporter has different requirements.

That is why we combine proven trailer concepts with a design that matches your activities. From axle configuration to crane track and from floor construction to steering system: we look at the complete combination.

Our steering-knuckle-steered trailer is an example of this. This development focuses on weight saving, a low center of gravity, and more mounting options for a fixed crane.

Well-thought-out construction

  • Innovative steering techniques for optimal maneuverability;
  • Lightweight chassis with a focus on payload;
  • High-quality steel constructions for intensive use;
  • A long service life and easy maintenance;
  • Proven concepts, tailored to your application.
